K-OS Drops His Most Socially Conscious Album Yet

Whenever I think of K-OS, for some reason I think of his single Crabbuckit and I don't really know why. It used to get in my head and quite frankly it drove me crazy. Not that I thought that it was a bad song or that I didn't enjoy it, it just had that infectious catchy quality that manifested itself in my brain for extended periods of time.

Speaking with K-OS about his newest release, he brought up that particular 2004 single and said that now when he hears it "it's like a joke and makes me laugh, but that's just where my head was at then. It's how I felt." So we talked about where his head is at now.

Starting with the first single 4,3,2,1, K-OS makes it pretty clear that there is a prevalent theme to his album; gender wars.

"This album was shaped a lot by the lives of my two younger brothers; they both have two younger daughters, so I have four nieces. And being around all these girls, and being around my brothers and their wives I just watched their relationships. In a relationship I always just want things my way. I've kind of hit my head against a wall, in my life at least, with my relationships with the opposite sex. So, this album very much has a lot of undertones of anger, excitement, arousal from my relationships with women - but not put in a cliched way."

I asked him for an example and he mentioned Feist and her recent explosion to the main stage of the Canadian music scene (and beyond).

"Take my friend Leslie [Feist]: when her song 1,2,3,4 blew up I was really happy for her, but at the same time I was like 'damn I gotta outdo that shit' and that's the way I looked at myself for awhile. I was like 'Kevin, why can't you just leave it at that, why do you gotta outdo it' and that's when it hit me. 1,2,3,4 - 4,3,2,1... Four... what are we fighting for? The lyric just came to me. It was a joke at first. When I told her, she said I was crazy. So in that song, talking about the battle of the sexes is like talking about battling her as well. But it's fun... it's all in fun."

The album features appearances from the likes Metric's Emily Haines and The Dears' Murray Lightburn - among others who are all Canadian. I asked how he selected who would appear on the album.

"I'm actually in love with Emily Haines. She's a close friend and a confidante and we have many close conversations, just both being in the same business. After my last record I left something on her answering machine, and she was like 'this thing on the answering machine, I want it.' These things are just a work and progress. And Murray from The Dears is like my big brother. He's like a composer, genius, guitar player and amazing songwriter. I bump his songs when I'm on tour and we were just waiting for the right minute."

There will also be a companion disc featuring eleven of the twelve tracks featured on Yes!, but that have been remixed by other people. In December, K-OS held a contest and people worked with his tracks at the chance of winning $1,000 and having their work distributed alongside K-OS. You get get a taste of the music here.

"At first I was like 'what!', but one of my favourite sayings is 'never be afraid to try things on'. So, I said, let me try this on and see how it feels and for a long time I didn't check the site; I didn't want to hear people. But then I heard the 4,3,2,1 remix and that's the one I got into first, then I listened to all these kids' songs and I had to e-mail them. I was skeptical, but this is cool for the kids, and it's cool for me to hear. A lot of them were astonishingly really good."

But I wanted to know about that twelfth track that wasn't included in the companion disc. What's the deal with that?

"You gotta keep ahead, know what I'm saying? You gotta keep some stuff for yourself. I got another track called On The Run. It was a late addition, and that was just by accident. There's a couple interludes as well... but it was mostly by accident. I think that deep down subconsciously I let it drag out."

Subconsciously phhhh. That's what I say to that.

Shad on Junos Live Blog

Shad was applauded for his participation in the Junos live blog on National Post.
"Last night, Shad K participated in our Junos live blog and it struck me how much journalists hate on everything and how much artists give everything love. I think he may have gone easy on Dallas Green and Kardy, but his vibe is so good and he's so talented, that we can't thank him enough for being down with our team. Check out his video and song The Old Prince Still Lives at Home. Watch out for Shad on the new Classified record dropping next week."

k-os Recalls Fave Chaotic Mania Moments

By KENAI ANDREWS - SLAM! Wrestling

He is known around the world as the Canadian musical wonder K-OS, but before he envisioned constructing musical soundscapes, he was cheering on his favorite wrestlers during the 1980s Rock 'n' Wrestling era. On the brink of the release of his fourth album, K-OS revisited a few of his Wrestlemania memories.

For the 37-year-old Kevin Brereton [a.k.a. K-OS] and his generation, the world was turned upside down in November 1986 when Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat suffered the traumatic injury to the larynx, courtesy of the vicious Randy "Macho Man" Savage double axe-handle ring-bell shot heard around the world. It was shocking footage for its time and would set up one of the great feuds and perhaps the greatest Wrestlemania match in history. It's a moment he remembers, among many.

Though not too keen on much of today's product, as a kid Brereton was swept up by the larger than life wrestling characters. "I was an old WWF wrestling fan back in the day," he explained nostalgically. "Like Rowdy Roddy Piper, Ricky Steamboat and the British Bulldogs. I'm from that era of jumping off my balcony during The Main Event. But after the characters kind of got less flamboyant, I lost interest pretty fast."

Perhaps, in a small way, it helped him become who he is today -- rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer.

He usually performs with a live band -- not a la Vince McMahon in Stand Back -- but more like the Honkytonk Man in Cool, Cocky, Bad -- with an abundance of attitude, information and an unapologetic delivery.

Asked about his favorite WrestleMania moments, the three-time Juno award winner joyfully rebelled in sifting through some of them.

"I remember enough. I think probably the best one was when... Hmm, that's a tough one," he pondered, after a few beats.

"I think aside from guys like Steamboat and Piper and good wrestlers turning bad which was always traumatic for me, I think that my greatest Wrestlemania moment was Jake 'The Snake' Roberts ... Give me five seconds ... They're all in the annals of my mind," he confessed.

"What about 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Elizabeth? The breaking up of Randy 'Macho Man' Savage and Elizabeth [leading up to Wrestlemania V]. That was pretty harsh, because that was his homegirl. And also when Andre the Giant turned on Hulk Hogan [leading up to Wrestlemania III]. Those are my two favorites."

"Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan was just crazy."

It was more than just pinfalls and the main events. It was also about those who got the job done, week in and week out.

"You know who else I liked? Lanny Poffo. He was kind of like a hip-hopper, because he used to write those poems and throw out those frisbees.

"He'd be like, 'I leap and I bound, and I twirl around, and today I am going to take so-and-so to the ground.' Then he would throw the frisbees.

"And the other dude, Koko B. Ware, which I was kind of embarrassed of, but he was hilarious as well with his bird dance. You don't get entertainment like that anymore. Shameless entertainment."

The Birdman received the call for Hall of Fame induction at Wrestlemania 25. Brereton overcame adolescent insecurity and fulfilled his calling as a dispatcher of information over musical lines as the artist K-OS [Knowledge of Self]. Much like Koko, he realized the business of paying dues early on.

Higher Lyrics

we might want to take you higher than..
you might want to take it higher take it
we just want to take it higher than..
you might want to take it higher... take it
we just want to take you higher than..
you might want to take it higher take it

Love do we really know the meaning, cause we always fuss and fight
and the mind is so deceiving, when the heart cant stead you right
So I wrote this song to tell you, that I cant stand alone in the fire
forget the lies they sell you, Only you can take me high
Love without a second... Far to close to mention
Love without a second... Far to close to mention

You can take this higher ....And be all the stars above
You can take this higher.... than I can
You can take this higher ....And be all the stars above
You can take this higher.... than I can

Theres no need keeping it seperated.
Just show me we moving together now
Ain't no need keeping it seperated.
Just show me we moving together

yo yo
You really got me going, you took me for a ride
Funny how you got two faces, Dr. Jeckle, Mr. Hyde
I try to swallow my pride but then I choke
people thinking this is just a joke
Never really got the verses I wrote
Its just a rap song thats all, people do not care
Do it for money and power and rolleys in the air
But you know who be returning so people dont fear
I got to take it high and disappear
I got to do it
You can take this higher ....And be all the stars above
You can take this higher.... than I can
You can take this higher ....And be all the stars above
You can take this higher.... than I can
Theres no need keeping it seperated
Just show me we moving together now
Ain't no need keeping it seperated
Just show me we moving together
You say you say you say you flying
and it feel so good

Masquerade Lyrics

[Intro]
(Masquerade) One two, see this?
Right here this is heat, yo, yo
Massive massive

[Hook]
There's something deep inside
That's telling you that love's so much more
This is just a masquerade
When everything's alright
You know it's time for the writing wars
If it's just a masquerade

When I feel the way of my lost innocence
Looking for emotions that are fallacy
Everything is waiting on that dominance
Hoping for new opuses and alibis
And I'm with you, oh ohohohoh
If I could starve from falling
And I bet you, oh oh silenced the
Voices in your head but there's no place to go

[Hook]
There's something deep inside
That's telling you that love's so much more
This is just a masquerade

I sit back with the microphone
Watchin' these MC's turn to actors
Producin' all the factors
That flip life, into a masquerade
We like a bunch of manakins
Battery operated, inoculated
With five sentences connect us to the Earth
Rich sinners since the days of my birth
For what it's worth, dissuaded love
I'm steadily spreadin' love over the beat down
Let's meditate and feel the heat now
Like beautiful rain, on the desert plain
Cause the sun parch the ground on the weak sound
I break it down, to elements H to O
A place to go, that you can't escape the flow
Does not exist, I love the truth so I persist
Intelligent men? Or just "Gorillas in the Mist"
Clenchin' a black fist, for the size of dollar bill
I leave the space so you can think about it now so just chill

[Hook]
(There's something, there's something deep in)
(There's something)
There's something deep inside
That's telling you that love's so much more
This is just a masquerade
When everything's alright
You know it's time for the writing wars
If it's just a masquerade

Black shit, ration, tryin' to step up
But they can't even cash it
Kick that shit

[Kamau]
(First saved message)
In this venture, nothing gained
I've only just touched the surface
Once nervous, when writing for a worthless purpose
It was once more than this, before the heart left the beat
The soul left the speech, I'm still trying to reach
My niche, and teach the love again
Inside the hate of a present day
Got stepped after, being genuine we're swept away
Before the importance of diamonds, bells
And a platinum place, fallen from grace
Not my campus with another trace
Of the same thing I came in, this thing is worth saving
Standing in the pockets holding tongues of what I'm saying
Blaming myself only for supporting what they're playing
I may peek through the storm, but now it's raining
Unchanging of late, it's hard to be creative
Although creating is native to me, I tried to be
Even patience couldn't save it, from the days of pages
They couldn't believe I would say this
No longer without wings, Kamau is what my name is
Too many undermind, what I underline
Placing my poetry underneath their making of rhymes
It was a creation of frustration
Brown bricks or blank slates
Subway trains and cardboard bound with masking tape
It was the sound of the evening, the way the day grew late
Words tumble from lungs over my tongue
And gave a new taste to my fate
It doesn't even matter how the chatter would paint us
With love on our side they could barely stand against us
Um, what up? Uh Kheaven, what's goin' down?
Um I got your message, and uh yeah, basically call me back
Basically call me back and tell me
Sorry about the length of the message, but you know
You feelin' it? Aight man peace
(End of message)

Shad's Lyrics

Superstarr Part Zero Lyrics

Yo the year is 2002
It's the end of the jiggy era
People on the planet Earth are tired
In an effort to aid a great shipment millions of bodies incarnate (GET UP!)
To rock mic's

Complex, this hip hop alchemy
When I was a kid I watched Electric Company
Now I'm all grown living life to the bone
New tone, spaceship take me home
Back to the seventh sun the seventh one
When I drop patience, Kevin's Dun
This eloquent vernacular is black enough
To bring a shake to Dracula
Uh, I'm hitting them with synonym adrenaline
Then I send them to the kingdom of the heavens
A matter of time before this rhyme
Infiltrates the bloodstream into the mind
Of a man living a life in Babylonia
So lonely she went to California
Frisco, hypno's, get clothes
Crystals, take it back to the raw rap

(You, you blind baby. You're blind from the fact oh yeah cause you're
watching that garbage!)

[Chorus]
Ooh I love this girl
She's a superstar
You can change the world
You're a superstar[x2]

(Okay, here we go. First two.)

Yo, I got a lyrical shot aimed at the T. Dot
Telling me that you are, when you know that you're not
Uptown, chilling at the corner store
Thinking, "Why the hell do I front, I'm hardcore"
Like Castro, master flows pass the golden links
Whatever you think its all old, you get it?
Whatever the cost I will not floss
Emcees act the boss they all get tossed
Off the plank
Hold the dank I don't burn
I got a lot to say but really lots to learn
Turn, baby you're just not concerned
Whatever earned, thinking of the most high earned
I flip with this some hit, some miss
Don't get fooled by lyrical ventriloquist the twist
Most flee I'm Kris ?Najy?
Come back to flip rap
Do it to crowd make 'em clap

Superstar, superstar, superstar

[Chorus]
Ooh I love this girl
She's a superstar
You can't change the world
You're a superstar[x2]

(Get up! Get up! Come on!)

Superstarr Pt 2 Lyrics

She could turn the sand into glass
She could steal a jewel from the past
She could steal the sun out of the sky
Reach for a star never to high

Don't shoot me down
Not that you would
Don't pass me by...

Baby she's a superstar who likes to dream
Baby says to me her mind is never gonna change
Baby she's a superstar who likes to dream
Baby says to me her mind is never gonna change
Never change (superstar, superstar)
Never change (superstar, superstar)
Never change (superstar, superstar)
Never change...

Intoxicate my every thought
Try to forget things I forgot

Don't shoot me down
Not like you would
Don't pass me by

Baby she's a superstar who likes to dream
Baby says to me her mind is never gonna change
Baby she's a superstar who likes to dream (superstar)
Baby says to me her mind is never gonna change
Baby she's a superstar (superstar)
Baby she's a superstar (superstar)
Baby she's a superstar (superstar)
Baby she's a superstar (superstar)

Follow Me Lyrics

[Intro]
Positivity, that's my man
And to the one Godzillah, understands
The deep, Cole got the beat
And to the one that fit, is for the street
And contents of the Pressure
Knows the deal, and to the girl, Victory
You make me feel, but my man John Salle'
We keep it down, Figure Four kinda love

[Verse 1]
I pull out the mic, and shock MC's for spite
Whatever I write, magnifies heavenly sight
You said you shinin', but that really means you reflect
I absorb light within my pores and then connect
With the righteous one, he told me son, "Forget it
Live your life for the truth don't anyone ever let it."
Shed often, trapped on the Earth light walkin'
I meditate day to day so I can stay on the right path
How many know just what I'm feelin'?
The Eart keep revealin' songs you can't sing
To the non-believers, deceivers that can't see this
They blind to the fact but I can't relax
I keep runnin' see the light towards the sun and
They keep shunnin', but I bow my head to The One and
I can't lie, so you for it, I want to fly
Up to the heavenly hills where love chills

[Chorus]
He told me, "Son, follow me
And I will come to."
He told me, "Son, follow me
And I will come to."

[Verse 2]
My method is wild, original style
Acoustic, some'll refuse it
Cause they don't know the real
The Seventh Seal, is broken so I be smokin'
On these whack rappers, cause they never knew the time
Easy to find, out the way things are
But how it's supposed to be is to far
For your mind to grasp so you follow the mass
Playin' the role of a mack, but deep inside the mack knows
The spirit is under attack, and I lead the war
With my battalion, lyrical stallion, riding
Dividing the sheep from the golden lyrical quote
If not you could get smoked, by the mind is sore genius
I mean this I guarantee you never seen this before
Rappin' over guitars and finger snaps
My rapid raps, open a whole fire bun
He told me son, so check it out

[Chorus]
He told me, "Son, follow me
And I will come to."
He told me, "Son, follow me
And I will come to."
[Verse 3 - Red 1]
Yo, my war's against the foundation
Of a global united nation
When humans rule the world
By the codes of free mason
Hallucinated, by the quest for domination
An equation, which equals the battle station
Ready to bust, capture and crush
Move a nine of us, stealth style rebellious
Prefer profile, cause the beast is hideous
So move agile, seek the facts and compile
More wisdom, smokin' isms
That your knowledge and your children
Give thanks and it has nothin' to do
With the fuckin' Pilgrims
Startin' the curriculum, the Devil wants to be Ichiban
Interception is how this is done
But by the locks of the dreaded don aka Red 1
We'll emerge the champion cause the war is on
So grab your Teflon, your muskets and your swords
And peace love and unity will be your reward

[Chorus]
He told me, "Son, follow me
And I will come to."
He told me, "Son, follow me
And I will come to."[x3]

Patience Lyrics

[Intro]
Swing high then swing low
I know we all know
Swing high then swing low
I know

[Verse 1]
I was rushing to the end
But you're everything I saw, again
And hoping to pretend
I was knocking on heavens door my friends
But I was just a fool, caught up in the game
Everything is cool, believing in my name, instead of his
And when the sun came out
I couldn't find the shade, I am not afraid
Of the light anymore

[Chorus]
Patience
Heavens on your side be patient
The universe is wise
Patience
Everything is grand
Use patience
And you can understand

[Verse 2]
Now everyone knows
We hold the key deep in our souls
But we are living a life, on the surface yo
What's the purpose of
living lies, somebody tell me
Some hearts are made of stone (of stone)
They'll find their way back home (home)
I know I walk the path of life eternally
To be free, its all time

[Chorus]
Patience
Heavens on your side be patient (heavens on your side)
The universe is wize (and you don't travel anywise)
Patience
Everything is grand use patience (use patience)
And you can understand (you can understand)

[Outro]
Swing high then swing low
I know we all know
Swing high then swing low
I know

The Anthem Lyrics

Don't ask me why
(See this right here?)
When they're coming from the sky
(This will last forever)
Just let it go
There's some things you'll never know

Don't ask me why
(Tell my people if you had enough)
When they're coming from the sky
(You wanna bring it back)
Don't ask me why
(Sing the anthem)
Don't ask me why
(Sing it with me)

I won't fear anymore-more
Hip-hop is back for sure, sure
'Cause it took our love away
Now she's come back to stay
I feel sorry for MC-C's
Who sold out so easily-ly
But the truth shall set them free, free
Have no fear, no, no fear, oh no

It's a return of an original man
From outer space
The human race
Is like eyes without a face
I pulled your card
I saw you trying to fool God
And now you wanna switch up the game
It's rather hard
Damn
I thought that they was down for mine
But alas
A good woman is hard to find
So I get up
I'm really fed up with infidelity
This is my penalty
For infiltrating with the melody
At times
I look at my face in the mirror
And wonder if the picture is clearer
To me than to them
But then again
They sell crack to kids
And thats what is
So I just attack the biz
And it's just my soul obligation
To unite this whole hip-hop nation
Face it
We're taking over your radio station
Hasid, this is the time for jubilation

I won't fear anymore-more
Hip-hop is back for sure, sure
'Cause it took our love away
Now she's come back to stay
I feel sorry for MC-C's
Who sold out so easily-ly
But the truth shall set them free, free
Have no fear, no, no fear, oh no

Now, we can break it down like this
And we can break it down like that
They stole hip-hop
Come on, let's take it back
To east coast stomping
Romping over the rhythm
And then I hit 'em
With the most beautful jewels
That shine through the darkness, sparkness
Some are concerned with
Who's the hardest artist
Call me the fluent MC
Slipping through the cracks
Bring it back definitely
Now, who is the man that's forgoten his name
Living in shame
And can't recall the place where we came from
The same one dancing on your video screen
Hideous dreams
I can't belive we do it for cream, yo
But it's the anthem to turn back the tables
Fables, whack MC's working for labels
I'll see you all in the next lifetime
It's not Kheaven
Just a message from Serious Seven

I won't fear anymore-more
Hip-hop is back for sure, sure
'Cause it took our love away
Now she's come back to stay
I feel sorry for MC-C's
Who sold out so easily-ly
But the truth shall set them free, free
Have no fear, no, no fear, oh no

Don't ask me why
When they're coming from the sky
Just let it go
There's some things you'll never know

Don't ask me why
When they're coming from the sky
Just let it go
There's some things you'll never know

Don't ask me why
When they're coming from the sky
Just let it go
There's some things you'll never know

Don't ask me why
When they're coming from the sky
Just let it go
There's some things you'll never know

Yeah
Uh, uh

You wanna rap with me
I'm a rap Vader
You wanna rap against me
I'm a rap terminator
I'm getting mad props
Like on a movie set, yeah

The time runs out
And then the beat runs loose, no doubt
Take me to the ending
Eff with the record
Eff with the record
(A universe without light is lightless)
Easy on the motion
Not a people's locomotion

Freeze Lyrics

Yo, yo what the fuck, yo, yo

[Chorus]
It goes stop, don't make a move, just freeze
Instead of tellin' a lie, get down on your knees
Please, give up the mic to MC's
Masters of the ceremony, is what we be
It goes stop, don't make a move, just freeze
Instead of tellin' a lie, get down on your knees
Please, give up the mic to MC's
Masters of the ceremony, is what we be.

[Verse 1]
I was walkin' down the street about three o'clock
When I saw another MC at the end of the block
Talkin' to kids tellin' em, how they had to get the dough
So I rolled right up in the Cypher and said "Yo!"
Here is an example of a whack MC
Caught in the world and he just can't see
He said, "What? Aiyyo, you disrespectin' me?
Now I got to battle you and show them who the best be."
He started spittin', he said, "Somethin' somethin' hot."
Then he tried to talk about the money that he got
I said, "Shhh c'mon yo, that's all passé.
I got to break it down another way like this now.
Follow me here in this moment and time
Follow the rhyme created instigated to see the crime
You commit, when you sit in the past. Don't you know?
You construct a future based on everything that you know.
But to get to the unknown, we surely must erase
All the preconceived notions they keep throwin' up in our face
On the daily. I run over tracks like Donavan Bailey
And break every record, in less than ten seconds."
They said, "Oooooh! That's a real metaphysical.
We pull down the light cause the force is centrifugal"
He tried to act up I had to give in
Because the truth is an offense and not a sin, word life.

[Verse 2]
MC's ain't comin' equipped, with the rhyme
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time
The time is essential when you play with the lives of the youth
They want the truth, but you want loot
So ya change a little bit switch up your steeds
Now you got a bigger bag and countin' extra ki's
Please, everything you do we do with these
Real MC's are universal entities, that
Scope the universe lookin' for the fraudulence
Then we take a disguise like Clark Kent
My manner would have quick to check a scanner
For a weak MC sinkin' a city like Atlantis
You can't stand this, missile placed and you vanish
I meditate delevitate the twelve planets
You cannot withstand the heavy verbal attack
I'm the lyrical master blaster yeah I can do that
I can also be your style, because I analyzed it
You used to rock, but now you paralyzed it
Doesn't really matter like platinum blondes
Think what is an MC if he can't drop bombs
Don't really matter if it's over your head
Cause the job of resurrectin' is to wake up the dead
So pay attention it's the hard to behold
That everything that good it ain't gold, for real.

Masters of the ceremony, is what we be.[x2.5]

Superstarr Pt 1 Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Ending is coming and fast is soon
I don't need your pain and adversity
Rising like the sun in the highest noon
I don't want to lose the ability
Look at how they coming and they hang me high (hang me high)
Leave me out here, hang me out to dry (out to dry)
Standing on the side like some parasites, waiting on their turn to eat
And in this game of destiny, every man is asking "why?"
Or how they want to govern me
I couldn't let them if they tried
And in my deepest, darkest side
He was there to ease the pain
So i give up all my pie, just to glorify his name

[Chorus]
Tell me "how did you get so low?" (so low)
When you know you're a superstar
If there's pain, then just let it go (let it go)
Don't forget that you know who you are...[x2]

[Verse 2]
And it doesn't last
When you turn the sand, into glass
They can steal the sun, out of the sky
Reach for a star, never too high
Don't shoot me down, not that you would
Don't pass me by, i'm not your fool

[Chorus]
Tell me "how did you get so low?" (so low)
When you know you're a superstar
If there's pain, then just let it go (let it go)
Don't forget that you know who you are...[x3]

Heaven Only Knows Lyrics

Turn this up
Turn this up
Yo
Uh-huh
Yes
No, no, no beat
Uh-huh
No, no, no beat
Uh-huh, uh-huh
Bring it
Bring it

Heaven only knows (uh-huh)
'Cause I don't understand (understand)
Won't you tell me please (tell me)
What's the master plan (master plan)
Spent so many days (many days)
Sitting on a cloud (sitting on a cloud)
Heaven only knows (only God knows)
So I'll just move the crowd

Yo tell em
Tell em
Now
Now
Now

I break out my physical shell
And excel past the so called body
Used to go to the party
But now I sit and chill with the pen and the pad
Dropping ill philisophical science
Me and my dad we talk about life
And how it started
How we departed from lights path
And probable right math
The task at hand
Is making people understand
That we're not who we think we are
Within this land of lost the cost of souls could be so high
People be getting high
Wondering why we die
But it's all planned
To get your fear take the hand
We keep on returning because the lessons need learning
Concerning the fact
I sing and I rap
I hold this mic contact
Critics can step back and analize
I energise with cosmic rays of days
There ain't no
I get my signals from the sun

Heaven only knows
'Cause I don't understand (don't undertand)
Won't you tell me please ('cause I pray every day)
What's the master plan (the master plan)
Spent so many days (many days)
Sitting on a cloud (sitting on a cloud)
Heaven only knows (only God knows)
So I'll just move the crowd

Yo
Riddle me this
Riddle me this
Like this:

Melodical prodigal flows
Hypnotical blows to brain pieces
Telekenisis
When I reach this pinnacle cynical clinical
Microphone autobots waiting on lotto spots
Trying to rock
But yo they can't understand
There's only one plan
The time is at hand
In the year two zero one one
The people of the sun return to free the Righteous children
Now
I know you want to be on top of the world
Giving a diamond and pearl to your girl Watching your jaccuzi swirl
Seems like material lust
We need to look up to the heavens for imperial trust
Me
It's kinda hard when you rhyme sometimes
Everybody wants to scrutinize
Re-define who you are
But every person is a star
So let your light shine far
And praise God

Heaven only knows (only knows)
'Cause I don't understand (don't understand now)
Won't you tell me please (tell me please)
What's the master plan (I wanna know the plan)
Spent so many days (many days)
Sitting on a cloud (sitting on a cloud)
Heaven only knows
So I'll just move the crowd

If you feel this
Sing it with me like
Sing it with me like
Sing it with me like

La la la lalala lala lala
I'll just move the crowd for now

la la la lala lala (la la)
I'll just move the crowd for now

Somebody told me
They said:

"If you free them
They will start revolution and Babylon cannot defeat them"
(right
and they don't want that
and they don't want that
and they don't want that)
"If you free them
They will start revolution and Babylon cannot defeat them"
(mind revolution
mind revolution)

And so yeah uh-huh
My sister Sage
And my girl Graf (you know the time)
The Shadow Thorn
And S-Love, and uh
And Nigel, and uh
The Figure Four, uh-huh
The Rascalz, and uh
And Kardinal, and uh
My mom and dad, uh
My brother A, and uh
My brother J, and uh
The whole world, uh-huh
The T-Dot, uh-huh
The Van City, uh-huh
The whole world, uh-huh
You get love, uh-huh

Call Me Lyrics

[Chorus]
Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay
In a world that is slippin' away

Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay
In a world that is slippin' away

[Verse 1]
Face the world
my father told me
that life is mystical
beautiful bliss-ful
Now, in troubled times
I find soul in reaching
what I'm seeking seems so far
praise the world
My mother told me
that life's mechanical
so tyrannical
it blows my mind
just what we'll be reaping
and weeping so help us God
Never knew that I
could be looking why
are so many
breaking
making castles of sand
every man
wanna be the one
wanna be the one to be
king for a day but its slipping away
and I'm happy
most melodical things I say
to release the pain
and cease the rain
in my brainstorm
I can't hide
from inside
escape to, the outside
and I'll be flying away.

[Chorus]
Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay
In a world that is slippin' away

Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay

[Verse 2]
Never know, never know
whats right until you walking death
everyday is just a struggle
we take till there's nothing left
when I wake up pray that I can see the truth between the dark
for the rest that don't care this a message straight to your heart
nothing you say now can turn me away
I'm walking the path, never-le me a stray
many they hold mics I don't know what to say
whats going on today?
And you walk to fast
on the broken glass
on the smoking pass
hoping that
worshipping the cash
but it never lasts
won't you ask
what can we be?
can we be free?
where can we go?

[Chorus]
Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay
In a world that is slippin' away

Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay

Call me
Call me (if you wanna go)
Call me (you can call
Call me me if you wanna go)

Call me
Call me
Call me
Call me

[Chorus]
Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay
In a world that is slippin' away

Call me
(call me)
If you wanna go
we don't have to stay

Call me, (call me)
If you wanna go...

Fantastique Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Yo, uh uh uh uh uh
This is the mission out a small time thing
Let me tell you bout what happened when the phone went
I was chillin' at the crib with this girl named Wise
She was kissin' my brain, caressin' my third eye
When the phone rang, I couldn't believe it
Told myself to forget it, ignore it, leave it
But just when things started goin' great
It rang again, I said hold up, wait
Picked up the phone, "Yeah who the hell is this?"
Somebody said, "This is serious business
Hip hop is dyin' it's all Darth Vader
So pick up your mic and swing your light sabre."
The Skywalker, the fly talker from the T-dot
We got, beats and lyrics to get you up
Kick in the door, wavin' my ASR
Who got my back? In fact it's Figure Four
I keep it raw, cross the city just like gore
Rappers are claimin' to be hardcore
But never no more

[Chorus]
Some just lost, they floss they don't get it
When I fall off things I'm quick to admit it
If you love this life I know you'll get with it
Cause all in all it's fantastique
Some just lost, they floss they don't get it
When I fall off things I'm quick to admit it
If you love this life I know you'll get with it
Cause all in all it's fantastique

[Verse 2]
There's only two digits; zero and number one
But some get fooled by countin' bullets in a gun
I make a run, with that renegade Red 1
We so close you can figure us cousins
So step up if you want to get taxed
Hip hop used to be black, but now it laxed
The brick cause they mostly spit like demonology
My psychology not dependent on pimpology
Cause pimps just react to things, men make em happen
This rappin' dedicated to soul clappin'
If you got soul, than The Infinite's in control
Stop using mine, people to legitimize
Yourself cause you raped the Earth and tell lies
My man positive intelligent and wise
I don't suck energy son, I energize
This is dedicated to make it live, bring it back

A Story No One Told Lyrics

Picture life etched in stone
Life sketched in poems
On sidewalks in dry chalk next to homes
Picture all you’ve left alone
And kept in reflections shown
Your dome sketched in subjective tones
Picture life on a sidewalk
frame it - so all view
all you’ve ever felt
try to name it - its called you
picture it
in the space between steps
it’s the grace between breaths
and the message in this make-believe text
picture …

[Verse 1]
God exhaled
The moon shivered in a blue river
Stardust fell
Through space released and gave its peace
To a man in his place beneath
Graciously as he laid asleep
draped in sheets
with his honest wife
in the gold days of his old age
and on this nice August night
his soul raised
he saw this light - the calmest bright -
like Coldplay, it was all yellow
and in its gold rays, he saw his plight
as it showed him the youth that he’d forgot about
like how he block the spout on his house’s hose
and not let the water out
he thought it out and wondered
how he’d remembered it all?
how younger he’d enter the halls
when summer surrendered the fall
then he wondered was his life through?
In slumber under this bright moon?
Like skies after thunder, the light grew
And more from the limitless stash of images flashed
And poured from the reservoir to mimic his past
He saw himself with his wife growing old
his children’s lives
He filled with pride as the light showed his soul
Then it’s brilliance died …

[Verse 2]
And it was dead black in his eyes
A voice said that it was time
But he was steadfast in his mind
So he said back in reply
“Please! Seeing my life like this
It made me think
I could state succinctly everything life is
if you gave me ink
And I could maybe print every speech and thought
And release my plot on these streets I’ve walked
With a piece of chalk
To paint the sharpest image of a heart
Cuz as much as art can mimic
Nothing’s as real as a life told from start to finish”
Suddenly the man awoke with a violent cry
That strangely didn’t seem to disturb the silent sky
His wife was still beside him under the blankets enclosed
And when he looked up at the clock he saw the hands in it froze
So the man just arose, put his hands to the roads
And began to compose the most candid of prose…

[Verse 3]
So he wrote every quote spoken
And left every breath kept
Sketched in the next step of concrete
Then Death crept and lead him to his bed
As the sun began to rise
He titled his surprise
“The Story of the Man that Died”
Then his wife and the townsfolk awoke and were shocked
First by his passing, but then by what he wrote with his chalk
They got the roads blocked by a flock of postmen and cops
He wrote from his lot to the edge of town close to the docks
Where he used to watch the boats and often joked with his pops
His folks had not long ago passed and now both with him walk
People came from everywhere
They read the story through for days
It wasn’t nothing new or strange
Still they were moved and amazed
It wasn’t the places he’d been or the people he’d met
It was the spaces between and the secrets he’d kept
They wept joyfully, for the greatest story no one told
Was just the story of an ordinary man growing old

Picture life etched in stone
Life sketched in poems
On sidewalks in dry chalk next to homes
Picture all you’ve left alone
And kept in reflections shown
Your dome sketched in subjective tones
Picture life on a sidewalk
frame it - so all view
All you’ve ever felt
try to name it - its called you
picture it
in the space between steps
it’s the grace between breaths
and the message in this make-believe text

Question Marks Lyrics

What’s with this book now?
Looks like any other good brown hardcover book bound,
The type really took down in the libraries destined for dust
That people can’t quite put down or brush off
Even though it’s been labeled hateful,
Abused to validate racial subjugation and justify hatred
It just defies explanation, how pages could be both burned and bashed,
Learned and loved, hated, yet translated into every single tongue.
If this was just some regular book then how come?
And even these divisions it caused is all for proof,
As we find extreme reactions wherever there is truth.
And why have we heard it quoted a billion times?
Could it be more than just some brilliant lines?
A simple tradition to keep men so engaged in the pages,
By something beyond even the statements,
In the way the scribes, from different tribes,
In different places at different times, could all scribble lines.
But without collusion perfectly coincide,
And connect like pieces of a puzzle
Made from parables, and prophecies,
Parallels and paradoxes that seem to unlock the mysteries,
As we watch the history unfold,
Just as it was foretold
The scrolls unrolled to reveal
Words with that strongest trained sense of all things real,
Could it be made up or actually, factually be?
Scholars have tested the historical accuracy,
But beyond science, even intuition attests
To what the book confirms and all of nature suggests.
That there is likely a force behind
That must possess some kind of mind to design the search,
With all complex life intertwined.

But how could we travel through time, to unravel the lines,
And discover the nature of the divine?

Like is he just and kind, compassionate, old, bearded, and vengeful?
Indifferent? Omnipotent? And if so,
He must be some kind of sick old man,
‘cause the world as we know it is far from blissful.
Now all this goes to say, that most today,
Believe in some kind of God, even hope and pray.
But struggle with religion and faith don’t dismay.
We’re not destined to decease before we find…

The answer to all the question marks, a spot we began to understand.
See, all the questions inside man are like hands
On the internal compass that guides,
As we search for what could make our hearts satisfied.
First we look outside, blind leading blind in succession for success,
But no one ever conquers the questions,
It’s the quest which only serves to further evidence,
The irrelevance,
Of human skill and intelligence.
Then we look inside, and find with introspection,
There’s no bearing to define the direction; towards truth,
To navigate the course,
‘Cause not inside or outside, the questions point to a source.
Like is there more to life than sleep, struggle, and strife?
Just eat, hustle, and fight,
And maybe juggle a wife, kids, and a job.
Why are we here? Is there a God?
If there were no answers, would it not be odd?
Our lives would be nothing but a constant search
For something we can’t describe
But swear we must have lost at birth.
‘Cause on the search we never feel quite home,
Even in large crowds we can often feel alone,
In our own skin trapped like slaves
To behave in ways
That betray our own will, it’s strange
The inconsistencies and mystery
How we often lament that we’re not who we wish to be.
Well, for those in this position,
First off you’re not alone,
Secondly, in this condition something interesting is shown; the conscience.
But why would it impose such laws that expose such flaws?
There seems no just cause.
But since our conscience is a part of our person,
The mistake that many make is to ignore it in our searching; for happiness,
Which leaves many incomplete.
But this is still just the first step to finding peace,
‘Cause it’s not blind devotion to a code of laws,
But a real relationship with the one true God.
Pause.

The Greatest Construction Crew Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Now the first kid in the crew is called imagination,
The team would have him stationed first to work on the aspirations.
But with him it’s all about having patience.
There’s no exact science to his magic making.
But imagination’s still the world’s finest engineer,
Who invents by merely paying no attention to his peers.
Tends to veer from convention and has a pension for beers
Brewed from sunsets he says he drinks until his senses clear.
He’s Einstein brilliant, with skills to design building spines,
No mind is equal, so he spends his time with children on site.
He draws the blueprints to set the plan in motion,
So you know he always takes his time to create designs.
Imagination works without tools or drills,
He’s not trained, and never went to school for skills.
Still, nothing starts ‘til he hits the site,
He often brings his sketches to the foreman in the middle of the night,
Then he heads home ‘til the next project starts,
Leaving the boss to put together all the parts.

[Verse 2]
A foreman’s a born leader with a strong eye for detail,
To some it’s surprising that the boss is a fe-male,
But more remarkable is how she starts to go once the plans are drawn,
Assembling the squad and supplies so the job doesn’t die on paper.
Whether it’s a song soliloquy or strong skyscraper,
Her name is intellect, but her friends call her mental just for short, and for jokes,
And though she knows all the credentials, most incredible of all of her traits is,
Is as small as a shape is, she’s as strong as an ape is.
She even does most of the work all on her own,
Carrying bricks and stones, but it’s tricks don’t check it.
She supplies physics if the load is heavy,
And she always goes slow and steady until she knows it’s ready.
See, intellect is mathematic, professional,
And perpetually pragmatic, but skeptical,
So she measures all the angles and checks the scales;
She makes plans, then makes plans for if the plan fails.
She also oversees all the company’s construction,
And when the team is finished there’s just one more part;
A specialist to make the creation a real piece of art.

[Verse 3]
Now heart’s not a craftsman,
But all the skill in the world adds up to just a fraction
of the soul in his passion.
He makes pieces long lastin’.
Like intellect, he’s small and humble,
But if he wasn’t involved it all would crumble.
See, heart applies a polish that puts a special shine
on the work that intellect built,
And the imagination designed.
Plus, he also adds a touch of the divine,
To protect from the grind of the elements over time.
Without him, great pieces often go to waste,
And he makes the less refined unique in every case.
He’ll work through all conditions, even in snow and rain,
Somehow pushing himself through the coldest days,
Covered in cuts and scratches with no complaints, and Novocaine;
Just a threshold for pain that’ll blow your brain,
Workin’ through the setbacks.
And when it’s done it’s just on to the next task.

Rock To It Lyrics

rock to it, freak freed to it, to the beat to it, its unique music
rock to it, freak freed to it, to the beat to it this is how we- do it

Jacking cars n' glocks in prefecs clevers, scams
you can't find a better man in a Eddie Vedder Jam
MC's can't see the flow, unbelievable
we set records even when the needle's broke

don't need the dough, asking more bank for the buck
the only lands that conduct, that cant handle a puck
played penalty killas skillfully, passing coat check
when black flows gets this mo'cash than opec

Arrest them ex-cons, exploit the oil fields of the innocent
someday I hope the story steals the toil building a dream where my future can stay safe
a place where i never have to move or vacate

Physically I'm not in great shape cause I play cave
and dont consume rules besides whatever-my-graphs states aids
but fates, keep frontin' but I just don't care
wearing forces is the only time I put on airs
I spit out hard, every words when I'm spittin' it hurts
I never shift into first, get along with women in reverse
my freestyling is like a gift' in a curse
so stick with the verse, and god would think I'd written it first
and plus my, skills just sounds with thrills the crowds
I could fill my mouth with prozzak pills and I'll still get down

rock to it, to the free to it, to the beat to it, its unique music
rock rock to it, a free free to it, to the beat to it this is how we do it

now whether on stage or in the studio space
it's cool, the cats say the game is just the usual case
I'm like you wanna learn to flow homie move to the bass
and if you wanna make dough homie move to the States

I see suckers and style and musical taste
when we step on the stage and flash their futiful face
the homies hearts beat above a suitable pace
showing the super stylistics very few could replace

I'm that ill rap scholar never sweat the finances
just taking out a bank loan as big as my campus
these MC's need to stop taking their chances
why scrap when you know my arms stronger than lances?

touring France with these mad rappers locked in their stances
they thought they had a move until I blocked their advances

I'll be low key chillin rhymes, filling the whole sheet
feeling down loading on sizzlon so seek
students slash(/) rappers songs dealing with no sleep
I'm still a cold thief when I'm stealing the show peeps
get out this young brother with doubts
my tongue smothers the whack
the dub never uncovered the traps

so I'm trying to give light through these mike devices
not that I'm perfect only christ was viceless
but there's too many dealing with the lightning crisis
all I want's a warm home and a wife thats righteous

we gonna get there y'all we gonna rock to it
we gonna rock to it, we gonna rock to it
we gonna rock to it, a free free to it, to the beat to it, its unique music
rock rock to it, free free to it, to the beat to it this is how we do it

unlike the bismarck I write rap tunes in the bathroom
my influence is a black moon and paiboon
I roll with a whole platoon of phat goons
who keep the hair on their backs groomed with a dow sassoon

pick up the phone just to get the tone
my bicep claim I gotta leg ups, so when I walk the talk I high-step
as a fetus I kick rhymes upon their skin
even back in 82 my ultra-sound was the jam

I just rock to it never get forced into nothing
but words like a mullet-cutting short on the front end
y'all life's more than cake, no offense to the ballers
but we all pay too much attention to dollars

brainwashed now I'm still learning how to be me
worth millions, I'd rather be free, uniquely
no, I may never know myself completely
If I make it home well maybe then I'll meet me

just a capital beat boy like meat street and DC
rock to it while I take it easy come'on

we gonna rock to it, a free free to it, to the beat to it, its unique music
a rock rock to it, a free free to it, to the beat to it, it's how we do it[x3]

The Old Prince

I'll Never Understand Lyrics

(Bernadette)
The killers
You’ve invaded my nights
Singing your haunting lullaby
Drowning other voices
Choking
Suffocating
Numbing
Sending me to sleep

You’ve awakened me many mornings
Like an unexpected alarm
Shattering my dreams
Confusing
Terrorizing
Traumatizing
I’ve talked to you in tears and anger
Spat on you in rage
Whispered to you in sorrow
Tied you in chains
Thrown you in jail

I’ve pulled you out
Asked you many questions
Knowing there would be no answers...

(Shad)
I’ll never understand how flesh being torn apart feels
Or how after all this suffering a heart heals
On the rich green fields where they killed old and young
Cold and numb, under the light of a golden sun
It still stuns, tell me what possesses man
To, in anger, raise his hand?
I’ll never understand...

(Bernadette)
I tied you in chains
Again and again, round and round
Until the chains, in my dizziness
bound me to you
you and I becoming one!
Bound by the chains of hate
I knew then the choices to make...

(Shad)
I’ll never understand how it felt
when my mom lost her dad
her sister and the only brother that she ever had
and I’ll never know what’s more sad
the fact they could’ve been spared
or the fact that to this day nobody cares
for the innocent
victims of a full-fledged holocaust
because folks only holler if the cost
of dollars lost is high
so regardless of the number of lives
when poor blacks die
they always turn a blind eye
and I’ll never understand why...

(Bernadette)
I untied the chains
Letting go

Of those who converged on my dad
beating
pounding
leaving him dead

I untied the chains
Letting go

Of those who propelled the grenade
Scattering my brother’s brains

I untied the chains
Letting go

Of those who knifed my sister’s throat
Leaving her begging for a better death

I untied the chains
Painfully
Purposefully
Knowing the one who said to do it
Seventy times seven
Totally understands the depth of my pain...

(Shad)
I’ll never understand how people can go on and live
The miracle of finding the strength to forgive
To resurrect peace, to close up wounds so deep
they pierce souls beneath heart beats
To be a willful slave to a loving God’s commands
The key to a freedom that I’ll never understand.

I Get Down Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Big ups to 91.5 live from cold k-dub
Just reminding all my guys in the world to stay up
Never had to spray slugs so I dont play thug
Or try to fit with the killers like O.J.s glove
Still cats love to see me like their own pay stubs
Out to create buzz
know that s.k. can shake clubs
like car thieves or golfers
crazy compulsive
cold killer so ill
Im giving competition ulcers
Fierce frenetic poetic pierce the pathetic plagues
My powerful prophetic poetics penetrate
This renegade relic raps rugged and demonstrates
How to scoop honnies with nothing but that angelic face
Aesthetic-based waste get shredded, I set it straight
For the hapless half-wit homies that hesitate
The hellagreat, elevated skills you celebrate
Practice??? Kid ive been this ill since seventh-grade
I dedicate this to my sis and the crew
Thanks for coming out but the competition is through
I get down

[Verse 2]
All the suckas and frauds with soft stamina dont trouble me
Duck or Ill damage ya on camera publicly
When I utter these subtleties
Brother please
Im the biggest thing out of Canada since Pamelas double-ds
Colleagues and critics all apply the accolades
To apply describe how my flyness fascinates
I activate the part of me
That advocates the artistry
The slick, sharp tongue
That would lacerate your arteries
Like an axe to the heart
Hackin apart cats lackin the smarts
Cuz Ive mastered the art
I synchronize my syndicate
For rhyme syncopation
Even skits that I improvise
Sit in syndication
Let my sinful syntax and simple grin flash
cause dimes fall victim when my dimples impact
Cats listen close for quotes or vibe to it
I school dudes and make guys students of my music
The dumb sound dopest with their mic lines muted
While my iq is so high you couldnt fly to it
I get down

[Verse 3]
My language is used
To bruise and stick damages to
Other bands and their crews
While all their slick managers do
Is just bandage their wounds
This man is just too sick for Canadas amateurs
I make em dudes do flips like coin tosses
When I rip mics like loin clothes
Stripped off a groin
Join the clik or get going
Kid your showing softness
I cross kids like Hot Sauce does
While imposters talk and jock like Bob Costas
This colossus is so pompous its preposterous
Im always jamming like Peter Toshs rastas
Getting the thoughtless tossed quicker
Than The Moffats in a mosh pit, homes
I get down like acrostic poems
My resources hold more forces
Than the torque on 400-horse Porsches
I contort, twist and torch kids
With my oral orifice
Til these dorks is nothing more than some scorched corpses
I get down

[Verse 4]
Its like Im squeezing a glock
When I creep in the spot
People get shot back
Freeze and then flop, breathe and then stop
The way I leave em in shock
Forget radio they play my flow on (Ripleys) Believe it or Not
But I still dont own the keys to the drop
Leasin to cop the beach with the yacht and dont forsee reaching the top
But thats cool cause Im frequently jocked from speaking this talk
Plus on the streets I get props
Well before I leave peace to the blocks
Where my people still beef with the cops
And get beaten a lot, it needs to get taught
And ask Kanye, Jesus can walk
Already reach for the rock, not the heat to get cocked
Releasing the shot, ending a life
No need for the pop
Ya heard? like sheep with the flock
I get down

Out Of Love Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Yo, now I'm s'posed to be cool under the collar,
A student of the dollar, a proven scholar in the school of commerce.
A dude whose smooth and styled but whomever loses karma,
Dude can slobber like a fool involved with a doll like Julia Roberts.
But still they get to me like Destiny's Child,
Don't drive me wild intellectually but they fresh to see.
I guess I'm being a misogynist and I acknowledge this,
The problem is I just don't see all girls as goddesses.
'Cause a lot of them I think less, like princess,
Why's this silly pseudo pimp pressed against your pink dress?
When he drinks sex does his stink breath impress,
'Cause he has no genuine interest, the only thing's sex.
Got your heart stole your IQ and why do I know this,
Well miss I try boo, but I'm a guy too,
And so I'm qualified to say,
That what a lot of guys display are just some hollow lies devised to get play.
But I won't apologise cause most of y'all ain't slow chicks,
With no wit so when a pro approaches you should know this,
Its easy decodin' the motives of these horny guys.
You're roses but the thorns you expose keep me torn inside,
And keep me writin poems devoted to my corny side,
So prob'ly still be home with my folks with I'm 45.

[Verse 2]
So I'm not quick to give props to cute chicks that are hot,
'Cause dude the awful truth is when it comes to love they don't gots a clue.
Like how does pretty woman constitute a romance?
Some old man the sky salute knockin' boots with a prostitute.
So homey dont be led astray in any way,
When women say they want a man they mean a wallet and a wedding band.
Still them girls with extensions in their hair are pretentious in a way,
That leaves me all defenseless in their stares.
But they dont care for my attention which is senseless,
'Cause i swear that theres no need to mention good intentioned men are scarce.
I want a Clair Huxtable, I want a Clair Huxtable y'all,
'Cause if I had a Clair Huxtable I'd tell her shyly,
I'm like a Q, nowhere without you beside me.
Nah, I won't make this cheesier.
Maybe I don't hate 'cause they're sleazier,
But simply 'cause that way it's easier.
I'm scared to fail so,
even if the chick has got a halo and a fat tail,
Like J-lo I'll still lay low.
'Cause real soul has only got his pride to protect him,
So I'll deny a connection instead of vie for affection.
Plus we find it soothing to mock the short skirts,
'Cause that length tends to mirror our sense of self worth sometimes.
Instead of being free from these confines,
its safer to stay disgruntled and __ their minds.
Punchlines:
Without discretion or respect to give 'em,
'Cause a good offense is the best defense mechanism.

[Verse 3]
So I don't feel like tellin' y'all to throw your hands in the air,
And wave 'em all around cause I just don't care.
I'm a sharp jerk who leaves his heart hurt
Buried deep beneath the smart smirk and in parts of my darker artwork.
My partners out there but we ain't together still,
So I better build with someone 'cause I doubt that we ever will.
And if I never feel love at least I'll never cry,
If only fools fall cause I'm a pretty clever guy.
For never trying and just voluntarily staying solitaire,
'Cause in all sincerity who wants to marry me?
I'm callous and cold and I've grown distant,
'Cause most sisters only talk to me when their man wont listen.
The worlds a stage but not everyone acts right,
At the club I'm seein' more tricks than a halfpipe.
Now I'd never diss a sister or call one a slut or whore,
But some honies is hard headed like Mount Rushmore.
I'm sorry I swore I won't bash,
But if they treat you like a subsitute teacher,
Its probably cause you've got no class.
Now hold fast every woman's a queen,
If you're as lost as I am then you know what I mean,
I'm out of love, out of love,
This is out of love.

Outro Lyrics

We spend our lives searching, like scavengers finding a way,
Understanding that light is a sign of the day.
So we squint in the darkness in search of a glow,
And falter in trying,
In trials we grow.
Our hearts they seem broken,
Our legs they are weak,
Our tongues are exhausted from trying to speak.
'Cause sometimes they listen,
But often they don't.
We easily help,
But more often we won't.
Because we constructed the things that we want,
Ghosts are desires ,
Desire to haunt.
But our need as below so above
What we all want
Should look a little more
Like love.

Get Up Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Before I take a mic
Take a break beat or a break to write
Break me down lord please and shape my life
We need leaders
These elitists got nothing to teach us
By they strength, our children need to see jesus in their weakness
And keep seekin where
Free speech is rare
And realness gets kept less frequent than these secrets
Share a couple stories
Like a townhome or brownstone
Over loud phones about my hang ups and dial tones
Swim in heaven and at worst you get drowned toe’d down
To the place where the clouds roam
So we get up
All my ppl feeling bored and strange
If you don’t feel at home in this conformist state
Don’t ignore the pain
That’s the lord that’s sayin
To you stand up King you were born to reign
That’s the war that’s waged
And the important thang
Aint what youd die for
Its what you live for today

[Chorus]
Get up even if they knock us down
They cant cant stop us
Smile right back at em laugh and then get up
Actions speak louder than a thousands talkers
So make em blast that in their walkmans [x2]

[Verse 2]
Its hard to stand in a nation where the masses sit
Idle and passionless
Politics is polls
In the papers all the facts are skipped
Cant ascertain so the scholars place an asterix
And stories on the stars to dumb down
And distract us with
We cant help but feel detached from this
Capitalist confusin communion of coportate sponsors and advocates
Where every actor is an activist
But a movie cast wont fix these broken homes full of fractured kids
Aren’t broken bones you can wrap up quick
Folks trying to master this game that I call money for masochists
Where if you wanna make a cut
Gotta match their risk
Dig in your pockets, not for cash
But to slash your wrists
And fashion’s just a game of who can follow fads fastest wish
Some kind of miraculous world change can happen quick
But these problems don’t take seconds to solve
And getting mad aint the same thing as getting involved
We need to get up

[Chorus]
Get up even if they knock us down
They cant cant stop us
Smile right back at em laugh and then get up
Actions speak louder than a thousands talkers
So make em blast that in their walkmans [x2]

[Verse 3]
Get a mic
Get skill
Get ice
Get bills
Get the life
That you always wanted and then get killed
Get slain
Cuz the rappers that do
Get fame
Its insane
All they talk about is who should get blamed
Young brothers get steel
Before they get aim
And they wanna get it pulled
Before they get trained
Cuz they wanna get respect
Get cheques
Get dames
Things we all wanna get
But end up getting drained trying to get em
We get stressed and we get strained
We don’t all get the ghetto
But we all get pain
Before I get to the refrain
I hope you get what im sayin
Its messed, but we just might get some change if we get up

[Chorus]
Get up even if they knock us down
They cant cant stop us
Smile right back at em laugh and then get up
Actions speak louder than a thousands talkers
So make em blast that in their walkmans [x2]
